“I enjoy the luncheons because they focus on positive things. This gives me a chance to see the movers and shakers from other parts of the county. The lunches remind us of the accomplishments Yolo County women have been making over time.”

John Ohlson
West Sacramento

"We really enjoyed the stage program when some local women dressed up as historic Yolo County women. I remember Margy Yutzy as Margaret McDowell. I think having a connection to the historic women from all parts of the county is important."

Annual Celebration

FREE EVENT

Although the pandemic is still preventing us from holding our annual luncheon (hopefully we can resume in 2023), we are hosting a day of celebration honoring women who have promoted hope and healing.

Our 2022 theme, Providing Healing, Promoting Hope, honors women caregivers, frontline workers and women of all cultures who have provided both healing and hope throughout history and into our future. We hope that you will join us to hear fabulous presentations and commentary by the Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation; Mel Russell, historian & former Yolo County Archives Coordinator; Julia Levine, City of Davis Poet Laureate; Woodland Community College; and Dr. Aimee Sisson, Yolo County Health Officer.

Please join us for this FREE open house event on the Gibson House grounds, Saturday, March 26th from 10am to 2pm.

It is with regret that the WHM luncheon scheduled for March 2021, has been CANCELLED due to precautions concerning the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).  We are hoping that we will all be able to gather in celebration in March, 2022!  For more information about the Coronavirus, please visit Yolo County Health & Human Services.  We apologize for any inconvenience.

Women's History

Since 1987, the United States has formally recognized March as National Women's History Month. During the month of March, we give a little extra attention to all of the amazing accomplishments of strong, determined women. Every woman has a story to tell and gifts to share with the world. So get ready, because this month is about honoring magnificent women, both past and present, and we are ready to celebrate it to the fullest.
